Chris's parents came to visit us this past week. We had a good time despite the cold weather. Shay was a little uncertain at first, but after a few hours she was fine...smiling and babbling in her own way. Jack was super excited to see his Papa and Nana. On Monday Chris and the gang went to the Museum. I guess it was crowded. We really didn't do anything else other than that and just some errands. Jack was excited to see all the airplanes when we dropped the McElwee's off.
As I have posted before Jack is really into his beanie bears. He has five of them that he consistently carries around and talks to. Today he took two to the store with him. All was good and when we got home he wanted to take them for a walk in the yard. The yard is really muddy and wet due to the snow we had. So I'm trying to take Shay out of the car seat and all of a sudden I hear a very panicked "UH OHHH". There is Jack doing the splits in a mud puddle with his two "dears" (that's the name of the beanie babies ..dear one but he calls them dear) in the mud as well. Oh, did I say that his bears are both WHITE! So the bears are getting a bath and Jack was stripped down before he came in the house. Early today he slipped in the snow and "dear" got wet but not muddy.
Shay rolled over today from her back to her tummy. It's the second time she has done that but the first time that I saw her. She is very deliberate in reaching for her toys and communicating what toys she wants or doesn't want. She is teething right now, the bottom two teeth next to the middle ones. She cried herself to sleep tonight which broke my heart.
Enjoy the pictures.
Tonight it's going to take a nasty turn in the weather. Tomorrow it's supposed to be in the teens. BRRRR. Yesterday and today were nice enough for Jack to go outside and play...a balmy 36 degrees or so. Today Jack and I got our hair cut. Shay watched us. Jack did super and has developed quite a head of hair. Chris and I wrapped up our double bed and put it in storage. Hopefully it will stay dry and someday we hope to use it again. In the meantime, Jack is now in the guest room and there is a twin bed and his crib in there.
Several people have asked me what Shay is doing developmentally. She is rolling over from her tummy to her back. She is trying to go from her back to tummy but she is not successful yet. She can sit up with support but she is very tippy. Her cold is gone now and she has an occasional cough. She has discovered her hands and fingers and likes to wiggle her fingers and look at them.
Well winter is here. I can't complain though because it has been unseasonably warm. This past week we were in the low 30's and now this week the upper 20's. This past week both kids had a cold so we didn't go out much. Also, Shay has acquired her AM nap...YEAH! However that means we are home more because she is snoozing. Fortunately, Jack does a good job playing inside. We had a visitor on Friday, Liam. The two of them had fun. While they were playing, Shay enjoyed herself in her Johnny Jumper. We are borrowing it from my friend.
I know you are all checking out the green toilet in the background (and green sink to match). Yep that is our very "retro" bathroom. Anyway the kids are slowly feeling better. We didn't go to church this AM because Jack is still runny and Shay has a bad cough. It snowed last night, about an inch or so. Everything has a blanket of white snow. It is supposed to snow 1-3" tonight too. We'll see. Well today is the big day, the Bears are playing and hopefully winning to go on to the Superbowl. The city here will go CRAZY if they go to the Superbowl. We'll find out later this evening.
